The Digital Publishing Report

 

Launched in May 2012, the Digital Publishing Report is a monthly newsletter published by the Joss Group. The Digital Publishing Report is for publishing and corporate executives who want to read and learn about topics, tools, techniques, and strategies for and everywhere publishing anywhere that is not just on paper.

 

Such activities go by many names these days: multi-channel publishing, apps publishing, mobile publishing, and so forth. However, what all these venues for content delivery have in common is two things: the work is publishing and the venue is digital. Thus, the name and the scope of the Digital Publishing Report.

 

We talk about the technology, techniques, strategies, and plans publishers are using to develop their digital publishing efforts. We cover e-books, apps, mobile, and more--not just the how, but also the why. When we talk about publishing, by the way, we mean more than books, magazines, and newspapers. We also mean catalogs, corporate publishing, and even publishing for education and training. Each issue contains two or three in-depth feature articles and several news stories. We also publish reviews of tools used in the creation of multi-channel publishing projects such as Adobe Digital Publishing Suite, page turning software, and e-book authoring tools.

 

The Digital Publishing Report is one of several newsletters published by the Joss Group, a woman-owned and operated publishing and consultancy company. The Joss Group also publishes the Seybold Report and the Graphic Arts Industry News Digest, among other titles.

The Joss Group

 

The Joss Group owns and publishes the Seybold Report, a well-known and well-respected newsletter about the technologies used in the graphic arts (as well as the printing and publishing) industries. The Joss Group acquired this newsletter in May 2010, but the roots of the publication go back to the 1950s.

 

The Joss Group also owns and publishes other paid newsletters including the monthly Digital Publishing Report newsletter, which contains content related to the technology needed for digital publishing and also information, news, and analysis related to the business issues and challenges related to digital publishing.

 

Another monthly paid newsletter is the Digital Marketing Report, which, as its name implies, is all about marketing done in digital form, including digital advertising, content marketing, e-mail marketing, and more.

 

The Joss Group also publishes  other materials including white papers, and special reports.

 

Periodically, the Joss Group conducts conferences, training, and networking events for graphic arts professionals. We also consult with executives and other graphic arts professionals interested in learning more about technology and business issues related to evaluating, acquiring, and implementing graphic arts technologies and running graphic arts-related businesses.

About Molly Joss

 

Molly Joss, the owner and founder of the Joss Group, launched the company in 1994 to provide editorial, marketing, and management consulting services to publishing companies and business-to-business and consumer product suppliers.

 

Before starting her company, the Joss Group, she was the Marketing Director for Seybold Publications, an internationally known group of high-tech newsletters. Also during her time at Seybold Publications, Molly was the company's Technical Editor.

 

Earlier in her career, Molly held a series of increasingly responsible positions in sales and marketing, software testing and analysis, writing, and editing. She is an experienced teacher and trainer and has done extensive charity work in the non-profit sector, both domestically and overseas.
